JORMUNGAND
The old norse myth of Jormungand, also known as the “Midgard Serpent”, has always fascinated me. Originally, this gigantic snake is biting its own tail, building a circle around the world and thus keeping it whole. In the tale of Ragnarok, Jormungand lets go of its tail, causing the sky and sea to collapse into each other. This painting represents the tearing of the veil between those two worlds.
